It's no coincidence that this would-be superhero satire arrives on DVD just as "Kick-Ass" hits the theater. Woody Harrelson commits himself to the role of an emotionally and mentally damaged schlub turned makeshift superhero with such conviction that you root for this film succeed. But for all the poignancy of this broken vigilante, it's a mess of awkward black comedy, tangled themes and screwed-up characters looking for a story. Kat Dennings co-stars as a teenage hooker adopted by our earnest Travis Bickle in a homemade costume.
